Repentance

Please read and meditate on the following information.  This topic is very important.  All passages from this document have been taken from the New International Version Bible.

Luke 13:1-5

Repent or Perish
1 Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. 2 Jesus answered, "Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. 4 Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish."

A) Everyone must repent of sin.
B) No one is more guilty than anyone else.

Acts 3:19

19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,

A) Repentance is necessary for forgiveness.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Acts 26:20

20 First to those in Damascus, then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and to the Gentiles also, I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds.

A) Repentance is proved by deeds.
B) A change of heart must have a change of actions.

2 Corinthians 7:8-11

8 Even if I caused you sorrow by my letter, I do not regret it. Though I did regret it—I see that my letter hurt you, but only for a little while— yet now I am happy, not because you were made sorry, but because your sorrow led you to repentance. For you became sorrowful as God intended and so were not harmed in any way by us. 10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. 11 See what this godly sorrow has produced in you: what earnestness, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what concern, what readiness to see justice done. At every point you have proved yourselves to be innocent in this matter.

A) Godly sorrow produces a change without any regrets.
B) Wordly sorrow is sorrow only when caught.
C) Godly sorrow will help you repent quickly.

Mark 9:42-48

Causing to Sin
42 "And if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around his neck. 43 If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out. 45 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. 47 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, 48 where  " 'their worm does not die,       and the fire is not quenched.'
A) The author does not really mean for you to pluck out your eye.
B) We just need to be radical about repentance.
 C) Are you willing to repent of your sins?

GOD’S COMPLETE PLAN OF SALVATION:

1)  Hear the Word: Romans 10:17 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.

2)  Believe the Gospel:  Acts 8: 37                                                                                37 Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." The eunuch answered, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."

3)  Repent of your Sins: Luke 13: 3 - 5 3 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. 4Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? 5I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish."

4) Confess Christ as Lord:  Romans 10: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved

5) Be Baptized (Immersed In Water):  Acts 2: 38  38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 22:16 16 And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.'

ENOCH 94: 1 - 4

1. And now I say to you, my children, love righteousness and walk in it;
For the paths of righteousness are worthy of acceptance, But the paths of unrighteousness will quickly be destroyed and vanish.

2. And to certain men of a generation shall the paths of violence and of death be revealed, And they shall hold themselves afar from them, And shall not follow them.

3. And now I say to you, the righteous: do not walk in the wicked path, or in wrong doing, or in the paths of death, and do not draw near to them, or you may be destroyed.

4. But seek and choose for yourselves, righteousness, and a life that is pleasing and walk in the paths of peace so that you may live and prosper.
